Merrill Bly Lupold, the son of John and Grace (Bly) Lupold, was born on January 5, 1893, in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. After earning his degree from Penn State University, he relocated to Schenectady to begin working for General Electric.
On July 18, 1917, Merrill enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Master Electrician and served with Company C, 102nd Field Signal Battalion, 27th Infantry Division. On January 18, 1919, Merrill passed away from meningitis while serving in Europe. He is buried in the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, Pennsylvania.
