Wallace Dayton Armer was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 26, 1925. He grew up in the village of Scotia in Schenectady County, New York. After graduating from Scotia-Glenville High School, he began working for his family's hardware store, Wallace Armor.
On July 19, 1943, Wallace enlisted in the United States Army. He underwent military training at Fort Benning in Georgia, Camp Polk in Texas, and Camp Breckinridge in Kentucky. He was a sergeant serving with the 290th Infantry Regiment, 75th Infantry Division. On December 25, 1944, Wallace was killed during the Battle of La Roumiere Hill, near Hotton in Belgium, which was part of the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in Park View Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
