World War II (1939-1945)

Benjamin (Ben) Hobart Beadles was born in Richmond, Virginia, on January 6, 1921. By 1936, he was living in Schenectady, New York. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in January 1940, he worked for General Electric.

In January 1942, Benjamin enlisted in the United States Navy. He underwent his military training in Newport, Rhode Island. He was a fireman first class. On November 30, 1942, he was lost at sea while aboard the USS Pensacola during the Battle of Tassafaronga. Benjamin is remembered at the Oakwood Cemetery, Virginia.
