Royce K. Bergstrom, the son of Harry and Ruby (Greatorex) Bergstrom, was born on August 29, 1915, in Schenectady, New York. He was employed by General Electric and a graduate of Scotia Glenville High School.
Royce enlisted in the United States Army in February 1944, and received his basic training at Camp Croft, South Carolina. Royce went overseas in July 1944, first going to England, where he stayed for a week, and then going on to France. He held the rank of Private and served with the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. Royce died in battle in France on August 12, 1944. He is buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
