Philip Nelson Bush, the son of Arthur and Mary (Cole), was born on December 21, 1894, in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Pennsylvania. In 1915, Philip relocated to Schenectady and worked for the General Electric.
The French Aviation Corps was where Philip served during World War l. On February 25, 1942, Philip was recalled to duty by the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served with the 9th Air Force. Philip died while stationed at Bolling Field, Washington, D.C., on October 28, 1942; his death was ruled accidental. He is buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
