World War II (1939-1945)

Joseph Caiazzo was born in Schenectady, New York, on February 3, 1918. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, and following his June 1936 graduation from Mont Pleasant High School, he began working for General Electric.

In December 1939, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a machinist mate first class and was assigned to the U.S.S. Hovey. When the U.S.S. Hovey was torpedoed on January 7, 1945, Joseph was lost at sea. He is remembered at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines.
