World War II (1939-1945)

Alphonse Francis Cantore was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 11, 1917. He grew up on Fifth Avenue in the city of Schenectady, and after graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in June 1937, he started working at the Mohican Market. 

On April 16, 1942, Alphonse enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with Company A, 753rd Tank Battalion. On February 11, 1945, he was killed in combat in France. He is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
