James Everett Foster was a resident of Schenectady and was born in 1921. In addition to becoming an apprentice machinist at General Electric Company, he graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1940.
On May 8, 1942, James enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of First Lieutenant and was part of the 544th Bomber Squadron, 384th Bomber Group, Heavy. James was the pilot of the B-24 bomber "Wabbit Twacks." James and his crew were shot down and crashed on May 8, 1944, while on one of his missions, close to Cherbourg, France. He is remembered at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
