Vibert Ostrander Fryer, the son of Charles and Agnes (Ostrander) Fryer, was born on March 31, 1914, in Schenectady, New York. He attended Union College, Albany Law School, and the State Teachers College after graduating from Schenectady High School.
On December 13, 1940, Vibert enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Second Lieutenant and served with the 127th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division. On December 29, 1942, Vibert was killed in action in Buna, New Guinea. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Philippines.
