World War II (1939-1945)

Walter John Lipinski was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 12, 1917. By 1930, he was living in Pennsylvania with his family, and in 1940, he was back living in the city of Schenectady as a boarder. He was working for Pleasant Valley Dairy before entering the military.

On March 12, 1942, Walter enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Camp Upton in New York. He was a staff sergeant serving with the 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division. On September 15, 1944, Walter was killed in battle. He is buried in the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial in Belgium.
