Michael Marrone, the son of Rocco and Antonetta Marrone, was born on March 29, 1922, in Utica, New York. Michael's parents relocated to Schenectady when he was a child. He attended Nott Terrace High School before beginning work at General Electric.

On October 1, 1942, Michael enlisted in the United States Army. He was a Private First Class in Company E of the 149th Infantry Regiment, 38th Infantry Division. Michael served in Hawaii and New Guinea before being killed in battle on the Philippine island of Luzon on May 12, 1945. He is buried in St. Anthony Cemetery, Glenville, New York.
