World War II (1939-1945)

Ralph Robert McDowell was born in Beacon, New York, on July 14, 1915. He had spent the majority of his life in Schenectady; he attended Nott Terrace High School and worked for the General Electric Company before entering the military.

On December 30, 1943, Ralph enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Camp Blanding in Florida. He was a private first class serving with Company F, 331st Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division. Ralph was killed on January 10, 1945, during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery and Memorial Park in Colonie, New York.
