World War II (1939-1945)

Edward Cornelius Moynihan Jr. was born in Schenectady, New York, on September 24, 1923. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and attended Central Park Middle School, Nott Terrace High School, and Christian Brothers Academy, where he graduated. He spent a year at Union College and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and ran cross-country.

In 1942, Edward enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with the 11th Armored Infantry Battalion, 1st Armored Division. He participated in the Anzio Campaign for several weeks before he was killed in battle while advancing toward Rome on May 31, 1944. He is buried in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
