World War II (1939-1945)

Edward Anthony Patka was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 14, 1919. He grew up in the city of Schenectady on 5th Avenue, graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1937, and worked for General Electric before entering the military.

On April 25, 1941, Edward enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with Battery F, 187th Field Artillery. On November 29, 1941, Edward was unintentionally shot with a .45 caliber revolver while on army maneuvers in North Carolina. He is buried in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam, New York.
