World War II (1939-1945)

Henry James Pawkett Jr. was born in Fort Edward, New York, on February 16, 1925. After graduating from Draper High School in the town of Rotterdam in Schenectady County, in 1942, he started working for General Electric.

Henry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a corporal serving with Company A, 4th Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, FMF. On February 19, 1945, Henry was killed in battle on Iwo Jima. He is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
