World War II (1939-1945)

Robert Carl Peters was born in Schenectady, New York, on January 6, 1917. He grew up in the city of Schenectady on Waverly Place and graduated from  Nott Terrace High School in 1936. Before entering the military, he worked at Peters Drug Store on Union Street for his uncle.

On January 29, 1941, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort McClellan in Alabama. He was a private first class serving with the 106th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On June 26, 1944, during the Battle of Saipan, Robert was killed in combat. He is buried in Vale Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
