Ivor John Siler Jr., the son of Ivor and Ann (Gale) Siler, was born on March 28, 1922, in Scotia, New York. He attended the University of Missouri after graduating from Scotia Glenville High School.
In May 1941, Ivor enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of Second Lieutenant and served with the 569th Bombardment Squadron, 390th Bombardment Group, Heavy. On December 31, 1944, while on a mission over Hamburg, Germany, the B-17 Flying Fortress he was riding in caught fire and exploded. Killing five crew men and imprisoning four more. Ivor is buried in Park Cemetery, Scotia, New York.
