Norman Laurence Spencer, the son of Charles and Marion Spencer, was born on June 2, 1912, in Syracuse, New York.  He had resided in Schenectady for 28 years. Norman worked for the Burch Plumbing Company after graduating from Vocational High School.

On December 13, 1940, Norman enlisted in the United States Army. He was a member of the 503rd Quartermaster Corps and held the rank of Private. Norman was killed in battle on June 22, 1944, in France.  He is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
