World War II (1939-1945)

Richard Emil Voris was born in Schenectady, New York, on April 21, 1924. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1942, and was awarded a theater scholarship to Syracuse University. Before entering the military, he worked for the Douglas Shoe Store.

In February, 1943, Richard enlisted in the United States Army. He was a technician fourth grade serving with the 2017th Ordinance Medium Maintenance Company. On March 22, 1945, Richard was killed in the South Pacific. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
