Korean War (1950-1953)

Marilyn Joan Dean was born in Schenectady, New York, on February 24, 1931. She grew up in the Village of Scotia in Schenectady County, New York, was a member of Girl Scout Troop 40, and graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1948. Before entering the military, she was in nursing school at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York.

In 1952, Marilyn enlisted in the United States Navy. She was sent to a navy hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania when she was attending basic training at the Bainbridge Naval Training Center in Maryland. On December 20, 1952, she passed away from Addison's disease-related complications. Marilyn is buried in Park Cemetery in Scotia, New York.
