Korean War (1950-1953)

Spiros John Markos was born in Schenectady, New York, on December 20, 1929. When he was four years old, he and his parents moved to Greece. On February 5, 1947, he returned to Schenectady, New York. He worked for the Mont Pleasant Lunch in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood in the city of Schenectady. 

Spiros enlisted in the United States Army. He was a corporal serving as a cook in Okinawa when he was diagnosed with leukemia; he died on February 28, 1953, at the Murphy Army Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts. He is buried in the Park View Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
