Stanley C. Urban was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 4, 1932. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, and after graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, he started working as a draftsman for the American Locomotive Company.
On March 6, 1951, Stanley enlisted in the United States Navy Air Corps. He underwent his military training in Jacksonville, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee. He was a petty officer second class serving with the Utility Squadron VU-5. On February 5, 1954, after the Korean War had ended, Stanley was killed when the plane he was flying in crashed close to Japan. He is buried in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
