Rudolph Jack Wainwright Jr. was born in Scotia, New York, on June 21, 1932. He grew up in the village of Scotia in Schenectady County, New York. In 1950, he graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School.
In 1951, Rudolph enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry. On February 10, 1952, a Central Railroad train struck the troop truck Rudolph was riding in, killing him. This incident occurred close to Fort Drum, New York. He is buried in Park Cemetery in Scotia, New York.
