Donald Brian Kearney, the son of Bernard and Cornelia (Young) Kearney, was born on August 19, 1947, in Schenectady, New York. He was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist School and Bishop Gibbons High School; he also attended Siena College.
On September 14, 1967, Donald enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Specialist Four and served with Headquarters Company, 35th Engineer Battalion, 45th Engineer Group, 18th Engineer Brigade. On April 4, 1968, in the South Vietnamese province of Quang Nam, Donald was killed when his vehicle struck a land mine. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
