Vietnam War (1955-1975)

Andrew Charles McCartney was born in Schenectady, New York, on August 10, 1949. Andrew lived in the village of Scotia in Schenectady County, New York, with his family until they relocated to Lakewood, Ohio. Andrew would return to Schenectady County frequently to see his grandparents. 

On January 14, 1969, Andrew enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was an airman first class. Andrew was in the officers' quarters in Thailand when a plane attempting an emergency landing crashed into the structure on April 10, 1970; he died as a result of his injuries. He is buried in the Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
