August Weloth was born in Germany, on May 5, 1923. He arrived in the United States on January 25, 1926, on board the ship Stuttgart. It's unclear how long he was living in Schenectady; he was in Virginia when he enlisted. Before entering the military, he worked as a machinist.

On February 13, 1943, August enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving with the 133rd Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division. On February 15, 1944, August was killed in battle in Italy. He is buried in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial in Italy.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.
