Benjamin (Ben) Hobart Beadles was born in Richmond, Virginia, on January 6, 1921. By 1936, he had relocated to Schenectady. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in January 1940, he worked for General Electric.
Benjamin enlisted in the United States Navy in January 1942, and received his training in Newport, Rhode Island. He held the rank of Fireman First Class. On November 30, 1942, he was lost at sea while aboard the USS Pensacola during the Battle of Tassafaronga. Benjamin is remembered at the Oakwood Cemetery, Virginia.
