World War II (1939-1945)

Bennie Stephen Homic was born in Schenectady, New York, on October 15, 1902. He worked for the American Locomotive Company before serving in the United States Navy. He retired from the navy after sixteen years of service and was then recalled to duty on June 15, 1940.  He was a first class machinists mate at the time. On January 24, 1942, Bennie went missing at sea aboard the US Submarine 847 in the Gulf of Panama. He is remembered on the West Coast Memorial in California.
