Carl Edward Merritt, the son of William and Bertha (Card) Merritt, was born on December 15, 1908, in Hudson, New York. He was living in Schenectady by 1925.
Carl enlisted in the US Navy August 15, 1926. He had the rank of Chief Quartermaster. Carl was killed by a train in Fairfield, Connecticut, on June 9, 1943. He is buried in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
