World War II (1939-1945)

Cyril Joseph Reinstatler was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on October 24, 1923. By 1930, he and his parents had moved to Cobleskill, New York, and by 1940, they had relocated to the city of Schenectady. He earned a full scholarship to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, after graduating from Cobleskill High School. 

In 1942, Cyril enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a second lieutenant serving with the 31st Bomber Squadron, 5th Bomber Group, Heavy. On April 8, 1945, Cyril went missing in action after his B-24 Liberator was shot down over the Pacific. He is remembered in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines.
