David Leonard Skumurski, the son of Leonard and Mary (Miller) Skumurski, was born on February 13, 1947, in Schenectady, New York. He graduated from Linton High School in 1965 and attended Parsons College in Iowa.
In January 1967, David enlisted in the United States Army and received his basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company A, 4th Battalion, 11th Light Infantry Brigade, 3rd Infantry Regiment. On April 3, 1968, in the South Vietnamese province of Quang Ngai, David died from wounds caused by metal fragments. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
