Donald Martin Clune, the son of Martin and Margaret Clune, was born on September 11, 1900, in Schenectady, New York. He attended Franklin School on Avenue B and was a Boy Scout. He worked for the General Electric Company.
On July 20, 1917, Donald enlisted in the United States Army at the age of sixteen. He was a Private in Company E of the 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. Donald was killed in combat on September 29, 1918, during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.

IN MEMORIAM. In remembrance of a dear friend, Private - Donald Clune, killed in action, September 29, 1918. It has been a long, long year; although it seems like a day that word came home he had been taken away. Away to a land where he can rest peacefully. No better soldier could there be. FATHER DIES WHILE ARRANGING FOR FUNERAL OF S0N. Martin J. Clune, 62, a former member of the Marine corps, died late Thursday afternoon at his home, 222 Avenue B, Schenectady, while arrangements were being made for the funeral of his son, Private Donald M. Clune, who was killed in action In France, September 29, 1918. A double funeral for the father and son will be conducted Monday, when both will be buried with full military" honors' in St. John's cemetery.
