Edmund Felton Potter Jr., the son of Edmund and Marion Potter, was born on November 18, 1921, in Leominster, Massachusetts. In 1940, he graduated from Leominster High School and went on to Wentworth Institute. Edmund came to Schenectady to study at Union College and work for General Electric. 

In January 1943, Edmund enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private and served with the 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. On November 17, 1944, Edmund was killed in combat in Germany. He is buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial, Belgium.
