Vietnam War (1955-1975)

Edward Anthony Malewicz was born in Niskayuna, New York, on November 18, 1942. He grew up in the village of Scotia in Schenectady County, New York. After graduating from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1961, he started working for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.

In October 1964, Edward enlisted in the United States Army. After enlisting he was sent to Fort Benning in Georgia for paratrooper training. He was a private first class serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. On October 11, 1965, Edward was killed by sniper fire in the South Vietnamese province of Thua Thien. He is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
