Edward Daniel Lynn, the son of Dennis and Mary (Mea) Lynn, was born on September 15, 1923, in Minerva, Essex County, New York. He attended Minerva Central Schools, where he played baseball and basketball and won the high jump competition in 1942. Edward moved to Schenectady and worked for the Shaffer's Company as well as the General Electric Company. While living in Schenectady, he won a bowling tournament.
On February 12, 1943, Edward enlisted in the United States Army. He was trained in Camp McCain in Mississippi, Fort Meade in Maryland, and Camp Forrest in Tennessee. He was a Sergeant in the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division. Edward was killed in combat on November 26, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in the Henri Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial, Belgium.
