World War I (1914-1918)

George Ralph Barton was born in Dalton, Massachusetts, on November 15, 1899. After 1910, he was living in Schenectady, New York, with his mother. Before joining the army, George worked as a waiter. 

On June 20, 1916, George enlisted in the United States Army.  On May 18, 1918, he was sent overseas aboard the US Army troopship SS Iowan. He was a corporal serving with Company F, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. George died of influenza and pneumonia on November 8, 1918, in Somme, France. There are no records indicating where George was buried.
