George Ralph Barton, the son of Arthur and Cora (Buckley) Barton, was born on November 18, 1899, in Dalton, Massachusetts. After 1910, he lived in Schenectady with his mother. Before joining the military, George worked as a waiter.
On June 20, 1916, George enlisted in the United States Army. On May 18, 1918, he was sent overseas on the Iowan. George died of influenza and pneumonia on November 8, 1918, in Somme, France. There are no records indicating where George was buried.
