Gordon Louis Hahn, the son of John and Leola (Purdy) Hahn, was born on July 9, 1925, in Poughkeepsie, New York. In 1943, he received his diploma from Nott Terrace High School.
On October 6, 1943, Gordon enlisted in the United States Army and attended Camp Croft in South Carolina for his basic training. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company E, 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. He traveled to England following basic training before heading to France to take part in General Patton's hurricane drive to the German border. Gordon passed away on December 18, 1944, as a result of injuries he sustained during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
