Gordon S. Riddell, the son of Isaac and Margaret (Sheriff Scott) Riddell, was born on March 28, 1921, in Scotia, New York. He was a graduate of Scotia Glenville High School and was employed by the General Electric Company. Gordon served as a pilot in the China-Burma-India Theater for more than 100 missions during World War ll.
After World War ll ended, Gordon enlisted in the New York Air National Guard. He held the rank of First Lieutenant and served with the 139th Fighter Squadron. On October 19, 1952, Gordon was piloting an F-51 Mustang when it went down and exploded in Herkimer County, New York. He is buried in Park Cemetery, Scotia, New York.
