Harman Morris Vrooman, the son of Harman and Jennie (Morris) Vrooman, was born on April 13, 1895, in Albany, New York. He attended local schools and was well-known in Schenectady's baseball community.
On June 22, 1916, Harman enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private and served with Company F, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. Harman became the line leader of his company due to his height of six feet two inches. Harman was killed in battle in France on August 8, 1918. He is buried in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
