World War II (1939-1945)

Henry Guy Pope Jr. was born in Schenectady, New York, on June 27, 1925. He grew up in the city of Schenectady on Delamont Avenue and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1943. 

In June 1943, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving  with Company A, 55th Armored Infantry Regiment, 11th Armored Infantry Division. On January 14, 1945, Henry was killed by a shell that went off during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in Park Cemetery in Scotia, NY.
