James Costanzo was born in Rome, Italy on May 15, 1890, and was living in Schenectady, New York when he enlisted.
On July 2, 1917, James enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private and served with Company E, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On May 17, 1918, James went overseas aboard the USS President Grant. He was declared missing in action during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive on October 19, 1918. He is remembered at the Somme American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
