James Timothy Randolph was born in Keene Valley, Essex County, New York, on January 12, 1950. He spent the majority of his life in Schenectady, New York. Before entering the military, he was a student at Linton High School.
On his 17th birthday, James enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a lance corporal serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. On August 10, 1968, James was killed as a result of numerous fragmentation wounds from enemy grenades during Operation Mameluke Thrust. That day, his company lost eight men. He is buried at the Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
