John Evan Sutton was born in 1900 in Schenectady, New York, the son of William and Cora Sutton. He enlisted in the New York National Guard. He was assigned to Company F, 2nd Infantry Division, and held the rank of Private. On December 7, 1917, John died suddenly while ice skating on the Mohawk River. He is buried in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
