John Spawn Giffin, the son of Walter and Della (Spawn) Giffin, was born on December 22, 1918, in Guilderland, New York. He worked for the General Electric Company in the office service division.
In October 1943, John enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of First Lieutenant and served with the 68th Bomber Squadron, 44th Bomber Group. On February 5, 1944, John was killed in battle over France. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
