Joseph Caiazzo, the son of Joseph and Theresa Caiazzo, was born on February 3, 1918, in Schenectady, New York. He worked for General Electric and had graduated from Mont Pleasant High School.
In December 1939, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy. He held the rank of Machinist Mate First Class and was aboard the USS Hovey. When the USS Hovey was torpedoed on January 7, 1945, Joseph was lost at sea. He is remembered at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Philippines.
