World War II (1939-1945)

Joseph "Joe" Stephen Hrusecky was born in Schenectady, New York, on January 10, 1921. He grew up in the city of Schenectady on Cutler Street and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1940, where he played varsity football. Before entering the military, he worked for General Electric.

In August 1943, Joseph enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving with the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. In France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, Joseph saw action. While fighting in Luxembourg on January 6, 1945, he died from his wounds received during battle. He is buried in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam, New York.
