Leslie William Alheim, the son of Jacob and Nina (McKinney) Alheim, was born on April 5, 1912 in Troy, NY. By 1915, he had moved to Schenectady. Leslie worked at General Electric and attended Mont Pleasant High School. He was a mason and a part of the St. George's Lodge.
On October 6, 1943, Leslie enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private and served with the 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division. Leslie left for the war in April 1944, and on July 5, 1944, he was killed in combat in Italy. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, New York.
