Vietnam War (1955-1975)

Raymond Lee Hyson was born in Charlton, New York, on August 28, 1946. When he was young, his family moved to Schenectady, New York. In 1965, he graduated from Mont Pleasant High School.

On June 8, 1965, Raymond enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a lance corporal serving with HS Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. On July 4, 1967, Raymond received fatal fragmentation wounds while defending a battalion position near the South Vietnamese province of Quang Nam from enemy attack. He is buried in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
