Robert E. Butch was born in Schenectady, New York, on July 8, 1924. Before enlisting in the army, he went to Siena College after graduating from St. Joseph's Academy.
In May 1943, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was a private serving with the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Robert was killed in action on January 10, 1945, during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, Luxembourg.
