Robert Leslie "Trevor" King was born in Schenectady, New York, on November 7, 1925. He grew up in the town of Niskayuna in Schenectady County. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1944, and while a student there, he competed in basketball, cross country, baseball, and bowling. Robert attended Syracuse University before joining the military.
On January 7, 1944, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private first class serving with the 89th Infantry Division. In France, on July 21, 1945, he died at Magny Au Vexin. He is buried in the Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
